PUPPY FOUNDATIONS
This class is suited for new puppies that are 8 weeks - 4.5 months of age at the start of class. Puppies must have a minimum of one set of core vaccinations and first deworming at least 7 days prior to the second class (the first class is a human-only orientation). Proof of vaccinations will be required. Puppies must also be up to date on their vaccine schedule throughout the 6 week course.
Our Puppy Foundations course will focus on the importance of safe socialization during this critical window of time in your puppy’s life. We will teach you how to properly introduce your puppy to a variety of things that they will encounter in their lifetime including new situations, people, dogs, different substrates, sounds, and novel items. Learn how to move at your pup’s pace, keeping the experience positive and enjoyable for your new companion. Our class will include gentle body handling & conditioning exercises to help prepare your pup for stress free vet visits and husbandry procedures. We will go over how to prevent and address common challenges such as puppy biting, inappropriate chewing, jumping, barking, resource guarding, potty training mishaps and confinement training challenges. Body language, appropriate play, and an introduction to some basic cues to help your pup navigate its way around daily life in a variety of environments will also be covered.
A maximum of 4 students per class ensures lots of room and plenty of one on one time with the instructor.
First class is a human only orientation. No puppies present please.
*A maximum of two handlers per puppy may be present in class.
